"Celebrating the Defeat of Jesse James"

On September 7, 1876, the infamous James-Younger gang descended on Northfield to rob the First National Bank. They were unprepared for the fiery response by the townspeople and by the end of the raid two robbers lay dead in the street and the gang effectively put out of business. Every year, we celebrate the defeat of Jesse James with a festival of arts, crafts, food, and re-enactments of the 1876 raid.

This documentary is a personal view of why this event is important to all the different people who live here. It nicely complements the more objective orientation video we produced for the Northfield Historical Society and gives the viewer another way of looking at the "quality of life" question.
